The lid has been lifted on one of the biggest basements in the capital.
Incorporating a hair salon, a five star leisure complex, a fully kitted out cinema and a garage with enough room to house four Rolls Royce Phantoms, this underground extension on Winnington Road covers a mind-boggling 7,500 square foot plot and has 3.5 metre high ceilings.
Designed for a private client by London-based practice Wolff Architects and described as a “subterranean paradise”, the ultra-high spec includes bespoke joinery throughout (with unique veneers and high lacquer finishes), book matched marble floors and fabric panelled walls with woven leather.
David Wolff, Director of Wolff Architects: “Everything about the architecture and interiors was to the highest possible design and specification, as is essential for the super-prime market. From the spa area containing a large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, hair salon, massage room, steam room and gym through to the large Ferrari red garage, sized to accommodate 4 Rolls Royce Phantoms. The basement design was led by providing generous floor to ceiling heights of over 3.5m high, giving a great sense of scale and space making the accommodation feel light and airy, despite most of it being subterranean."
